How to setup fingerprint and sign in to Windows 11
Fingerprint recognition is a feature that allows you to sign in to your PC with your fingerprint. You don’t to remember complex password anymore. Simply use your finger to sign in to your PC.
Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from its System Settings pane.
To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:
Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.
Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Accounts, select Sign-in options on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.
On the Sign-in options settings pane, select Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello) to expand and click Set up as highlighted below.
Next, its just a matter of following the onscreen instructions to scan your fingerprint and setup your account. You’ll be prompted to enter your current password or PIN if you setup a PIN password.
On the next screen, Windows will ask you to start swiping the finger you want to use to login on the fingerprint reader or sensor until Windows can get a full reading of your print.
Once Windows has successfully read the print on the first finger, you’ll see all set message with an option to add prints from other fingers if you wish to add more.
Click Finish to complete the setup.
The next time you want to sign in to Windows, you scan the correct finger over the reader to get access to your computer.
