Plex developers have finally released a Linux desktop app via Snap that users can use to play content from Plex server. Not only can users install Plex server on Linux, but Linux users can also now stream their content via Linux desktop.

As mentioned above, Plex has an official Linux app that users can use to play content distributed via Plex server.

Below is how to install it.

You can download Plex for Linux from the Snap store or run apt get commands to install it.

Snap is installed by default on Ubuntu Linux so no need to install it. Simply run the commands below to get Plex Desktop app on Ubuntu Linux

sudo snap install plex-desktop

Once installed, navigate to Ubuntu desktop app dashboard and search for Plex. Launch it and starting streaming your Plex distributed content on your Ubuntu Linux machine.
